All training will be held at Calf Hey Barn unless otherwise informed
Foster carers are expected to attend training regularly. The Children's Workforce Development Council requirements state that all foster carers must complete a certain amount of training in their first year of fostering to demonstrate that they can achieve the required standard.

19th January 12 Rachel Bonewell | An introduction to Change4Life | You will be introduced to the Department of Health's Change4Life Campaign which will help your family eat well and get active.

February t.b.c. 12 Mo Whittle | Positive Behaviour Management / Attachment | Managing behaviour is an inevitable part of fostering. Every foster carer will, at some time, need to deal with behaviour that he or she finds challenging, although every family's definition of 'challenging' will differ. By understanding the causes of certain types of behaviour, foster carers will find it easier to develop strategies to address it. In this workshop, we will look at practical methods foster carers and social workers find useful.

24th May 12 Kim North | Risk Assessments | There are many different ways to conduct a risk assessment. The methods differ in details, but have certain common elements. This training will look at some of the following elements:

29th June 12 Rachel Bonewell | Feelings......and what we do with them | During this workshop, you will use a number of tools that can support children and young people to identify their feelings and learn strategies to cope with them.

17th & 24th September and 1st October 11 Safehouses staff | Skills to Foster | This course is designed for Prospective Foster Carers which gives them an insight of what fostering is about and what is expected of foster carers. The course is run over three consecutive Saturday's. |
